North Nottinghamshire Community First Responders are a group of over 30 local volunteers recruited, selected and trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust to BTEC level 3 and 4 standards in the First Person On Scene qualification.
We are registered with the charity commission and have a team of volunteers that support our operational day to day management.
Our volunteers are operational in their own time, from home, with a Defibrillator, Oxygen and other life-saving equipment, responding in conjunction an Ambulance to life threatening emergencies.
We are regularly called out and have on occasion’s successfully resuscitated patients. Presently we travel up to eight miles from Misson, Bircotes, Harworth, Scrooby, Blyth, Worksop, Sutton-cum-Lound, Retford, Ordsall, Clarborough, South Leverton, Rampton, Askham, Elkesley and Tuxford.
We receive instructions from the Emergency Operational Centre, where a dedicated dispatcher alerts us to incidents within our area. In 2016 we provided 5,917 hours of commitment and attended 1160 calls, 758 of these we were the First Person On Scene.
